VA Veterans Opioid Oversight Report
Opioid Safety, MME Metrics, Tapering Practices, and Veteran Outcomes
P.A.R.T. USA prepared this congressional oversight draft to examine how opioid-related policies, dose metrics, tapering practices, risk-management systems, and treatment decisions may affect veterans living with chronic pain.
The report examines whether policies intended to reduce risk are consistently resulting in safer care — or whether some veterans may instead experience loss of effective treatment, rigid dose-based decision-making, inadequate follow-up, or other unintended consequences.
When a veteran is identified as being at greater risk, that risk should lead to increased clinical attention, appropriate monitoring, individualized medical decision-making, and meaningful support.

FDA Healthcare Software Public Comment
P.A.R.T. USA participated in the FDA public-comment process involving healthcare software and certain clinical decision-support functions.
During the comment period, P.A.R.T. USA raised concerns about how computerized systems, risk information, calculations, alerts, and other technology may influence individual patient care when important clinical context is missing or when computerized information is treated as an absolute conclusion.
